KBR’s National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to intelligence and national security communities. In this position, your work will profoundly impact protecting national security. KBR seeks a senior Model Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) for the Air Force Research Lab’s Space Warfare Directorate (AFRL/RJ) in Albuquerque, NM.
As an MBSE Systems Engineer, provide technical leadership in collaborative small team environments to conduct research, develop models and scenarios, and perform analysis on space technologies. This drives development and refinement of program system requirements and influences future capabilities. Work with research and development engineers, program and customer leadership for better requirements traceability and efficient design.
Enable mission-level modeling, simulation and analysis using AFSIM by defining MBSE elements and data flow. Guide system-level integration, verification, and validation activities. Collaborate across organizations to ensure consistent analytic results.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Math or Science
- Active Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent)
- 5+ years of systems engineering experience
- Advanced SysML skills
- Experience with the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and Unified Architecture Framework (UAF)
- Demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional teams
- Experience modeling space technologies and directed energy systems
- Proficiency in MBSE tools for requirements traceability and system design
Responsibilities
- Guide efforts to create and extend system models using existing requirements, interface documentation, and related design documents
- Enable mission-level modeling, simulation and analysis using AFSIM by defining and structuring MBSE elements and data flow
- Guide system-level integration, verification, and validation activities
- Define and analyze directed energy system missions and evaluate mission capabilities/performance for various scenarios
- Provide expert level support for framing conceptual challenges, developing and documenting methodologies to model, simulate, and analyze
- Communicate clear insights and observations based on complex analytical models to senior-level leadership and customers
- Collaborate with organizations and customers to obtain authoritative data, analytic techniques, and assumptions
- Lead technical support and knowledge transfer for AFSIM suite technologies and provide MBSE and SysML expertise
