Seeking a knowledgeable and strategic Certification Engineering Manager to lead the certification team in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, particularly DO-178 and DO-254.

This role oversees the certification process, guides engineers in adhering to DO-178 and DO-254 standards, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive successful project outcomes. The ideal candidate has a strong background in software development processes, regulatory compliance, and leadership to manage complex certification efforts efficiently.

Lead a team of DO-178 and DO-254 Certification Leads with resource allocation, task distribution, and mentoring. Work on Mission Critical Edge platforms combining deterministic real-time performance, security, hardware optimizations, and DevSecOps flexibility of IT infrastructure.

Develop certification strategies, manage risks and issues, and build relationships with regulatory bodies like FAA and EASA for audit-readiness. Track metrics, forecast workloads, and represent the organization at industry forums to enhance efficiency and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Strong background in software development processes
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance for aerospace certification
  • Proven leadership and ability to manage complex certification efforts
  • Knowledge of DO-178C and DO-254 standards
  • Experience guiding engineers in adhering to certification standards

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of DO-178 and DO-254 Certification Leads, ensuring resource allocation, task distribution, and development through mentoring
  • Develop and implement certification strategy, processes, and standards to align with business and regulatory goals
  • Identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and resolve certification-related issues promptly
  • Track team performance, provide feedback, and report on certification progress, risks, and resource needs
  • Coordinate with engineering, QA, project management, and other teams for seamless integration of certification processes
  • Collaborate with customers and partners to ensure certification meets requirements, including contract review
  • Build relationships with regulatory bodies (e.g., FAA, EASA) and lead audit preparations
  • Estimate effort and resources for certification activities, track KPIs, and develop workload forecasts
