About this role
Segula Technologies is a global engineering and consulting firm specializing in innovative aerospace solutions. As a Static Stress Engineer, support the fleet in-service repair of aircraft structures. Justify repair solutions from a Static Stress point of view, on Time, to Cost and to Quality.
Perform static analysis for both metallic and non-metallic parts using classical hand calculations and computer techniques. Develop efficient repair solutions to satisfy airworthiness requirements and customers including Airlines and MROs. Collaborate closely with design and fatigue colleagues.
Liaise with Design, Fatigue and other appropriate Airbus departments to deliver optimum design solutions for airline customers. Work with Principal and Senior Static Engineers to ensure methods, assumptions, data and procedures reflect on-going developments. Operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment both independently and collectively.
Ensure final repair solutions, with relevant technical signature delegation, bring the aircraft back into an airworthy condition. Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools. Provide clear, concise responses to routine repair queries within Airbus Operations and Customer Services.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials
- 3 years total analysis experience in airframe design/repair programs
- In-depth knowledge of classical and numerical (Finite Element) stress analysis methods
- Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment both independently and collectively
- Up to 5% domestic and very limited possible international travel
- Authorized to work in the United States; position subject to ITAR regulations limited to U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, and permanent residents
Responsibilities
- Create high quality integrated and certified engineering repair solutions for airlines and internal customers within given time scales
- Perform stress/strength analyses to assess that structural integrity requirements have been met using standard hand and computer methods
- Perform durability and damage tolerance analyses to verify structural integrity requirements
- Liaise with Design, Fatigue and other appropriate Airbus departments to come up with optimum design solutions
- Liaise with Principal and Senior Static Engineers to ensure methods, assumptions, data and procedures reflect on-going developments
- Ensure final repair solution brings the aircraft back into an airworthy condition with relevant technical signature delegation
- Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools improvements
- Ensure all tasks and activities required for Repair Engineering are correctly planned, monitored and executed to achieve customer time scales
