The Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer develops, implements, and optimizes manufacturing processes for aerospace components and systems. This role requires a strong understanding of aerospace engineering principles, manufacturing processes, quality standards, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to achieve production goals. Day-to-day involves designing processes that are efficient, cost-effective, and compliant with quality standards. Provide technical support to production teams, troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime and boost productivity. Design tooling, fixtures, and equipment while working with suppliers for procurement and validation.

Collaborate with design engineers, production teams, quality assurance, and stakeholders to ensure manufacturability and apply design for manufacturing principles. Participate in design reviews, offering feedback on processes. Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulations, and company policies.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma to reduce waste and enhance quality. Manage projects from concept to completion, handling planning, scheduling, and budgets. Provide training on new processes and stay current with aerospace manufacturing advancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or a related field
  • Strong understanding of aerospace engineering principles and manufacturing processes
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and manufacturing simulation tools
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001) and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for aerospace components and systems
  • Provide technical support to production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve process performance
  • Design and specify tooling, fixtures, and equipment required for manufacturing processes
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with aerospace quality standards and regulations
  • Create and maintain detailed process documentation, including work instructions and process flow diagrams
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Manage manufacturing projects from concept to completion, including planning and budgeting
  • Collaborate with design engineers and production teams to apply design for manufacturing principles
