Bristol, GB · Full-time · £65,000 – £90,000
About this role
At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering electric aviation with the VX4 eVTOL zero-emissions aircraft, setting new safety standards. As an Advanced Flight Controls Engineer, join the Digital & Flight Systems squad to develop the 'brains' of our fully electric VX4, partnering with Honeywell for optimal safety, performance, and environmental robustness. We aim to redefine aerospace best practices beyond legacy processes.
A typical day involves managing Flight Control Laws requirements using tools like Jama, developing simulation tools in MATLAB and Simulink, and interfacing with multiple teams to understand complex stakeholder requirements. The role demands leveraging skills across diverse challenges with critical thinking and robust decision-making. This agile work supports our transition from prototype to scaling SME.
Work in a close-knit, agile team within a rapidly growing company, where the next few years are critical to achieving VX4 in service by 2030. Collaborate across Vertical Aerospace while organizing requirements and leading simulation activities. Apply model-based design principles to contribute from requirements to flight testing.
Expect a mission-driven environment that sees opportunity in limits and works at pace. Join a flexible, supportive organisation with an incredible team for those seeking challenge. Promote ingenuity, courage, diligence in safety, and openness to do the best work of your career.
